“Koala parenting” promotes a close attachment between parents and their children from birth. As a stand alone parenting style, it evolves as kids grow. The struggle may be when it can’t evolve and it becomes how OCD demands you parent it (e.g. requiring constant physical and emotional connection to reassure OCD which can be exhausting!). Take a few steps away from koala parenting OCD by joining in for our parent/caregiver support group today at 5!
When you make the choice to change your life, you make a lot of new commitments and set up structure to help maintain the change: giving yourself permission to leave OCD behind also means making the choice to stay on top of exposures everyday. By embracing exposure daily, OCD stays small(er).
