And ERP is no different! Some days you may need to go a little lighter on your exposure practice. Note that recovery days aren’t lazy, so nothing days—they’re days where you still stretch and reach towards your next goal just not as strenuously as you may have on the hard work day before, or on the hard work day you know is coming at you tomorrow!
Maybe you needed a lightbulb moment this morning! Let your thoughts and values determine the outcome of your day—it let’s you stay true to yourself rather than sticking with whatever OCD or anxiety feels is most important (especially since that stuff usually makes it pretty impossible to live your values).
It’s not about getting it exactly right, it’s about continuing to move forward! Progress isn’t always a strict, upward, linear trajectory. It’s about sticking it out even when it isn’t instead of giving up!
